Guardrails define what is in policy. Autonomy defines how far accepted work proceeds without another review stop. Configure both before allowing spend-affecting actions.

Guardrails

Open SettingsGuardrails to configure workspace constraints.

Performance targets

  • Target ROAS — the workspace’s desired return reference.
  • Break-even ROAS — the point below which a pullback can be appropriate.
  • Target CPA — an optional acquisition-cost reference.
These values guide analysis and risk detection. They do not make every recommendation correct; review the source, date range, and attribution model.

Spend caps

You can set monthly and daily caps plus a minimum spend floor. Choose the cap currency first. Caps apply only to ad accounts billed in that currency; Marketer does not convert a cap across currencies for enforcement.

Scaling limits

  • Allow budget increases is the master switch for scale-ups.
  • Max budget increase (%) is a hard ceiling for one increase.
  • Approval threshold (%) determines when an otherwise allowed increase must be reviewed.
You can also protect Untouchable campaigns so Marketer will not modify the selected Meta campaigns. The page includes New Customer Acquisition settings for Meta. Those settings work with the audience definitions and exclusions configured for connected ad accounts.

Autonomy

Open SettingsAutonomy.

Default creation mode

Choose how a new brief opens:
  • Ask every time shows the Auto-or-Manual choice.
  • Auto order opens the product-URL flow.
  • Manual brief opens the write-it-yourself flow.
This is a default, not a lock. A teammate can switch mode on an individual brief.

Autonomy level

Hands-off is available only on managed plans. Turning it on requires a confirmation, and guardrails and spend caps still apply.
Hands-off removes the paused review stop. Use it only after your team has verified real outputs, permissions, destinations, budgets, and recovery ownership. Keep Review everything when any of those are uncertain.
1

Start read-only

Validate analysis against connected sources and a completed date range.
2

Set hard limits

Define currency, spend caps, protected campaigns, and the budget-increase master switch.
3

Require review

Keep Review everything while the team tests proposals and paused launches.
4

Inspect real outcomes

Confirm destinations, tracking, creative, audience, account, and budget before each launch.
5

Expand narrowly

Increase autonomy only for a proven workflow with an owner, monitoring, and a rollback path.

Next step

Review Audience segments and custom audiences, then run a paused launch and inspect it before considering a broader autonomy level.
