The Auto-apply recommendations section appears for a connected Google Ads integration with selected accounts. It controls eligible Google recommendation subscriptions per account; it is not required for reporting sync.
Turning on a recommendation type gives Google permission to make that class of change on its own. Treat this as an automation policy change, not a reporting preference.

Read the account summary

Each account shows one of these summaries:
  • Nothing auto-applies
  • 1 type auto-applying
  • N types auto-applying
The row also shows Last checked or Never checked. Select Refresh when the current Google state may have changed outside Marketer. Use Show 15 controllable types to inspect the recommendation types Marketer can control through Google. The label changes to Hide the controllable types when expanded.

The controllable types

The current list covers these Google recommendation categories:
  • Enhanced CPC
  • Add keywords
  • Change keyword match types
  • Lower target ROAS
  • Switch to Maximize clicks
  • Optimize ad rotation
  • Raise target CPA
  • Add responsive search ads
  • Improve RSA ad strength
  • Opt in to Search partners
  • Set a target CPA
  • Set a target ROAS
  • Switch to Target CPA
  • Switch to Target ROAS
  • Use broad match keywords
Review each type against your bidding, keyword, network, and creative policy. Similar-looking types can have different effects.

Turn a type on

1

Choose the exact account

Expand Auto-apply recommendations for the customer ID you intend to change.
2

Read the recommendation type

Confirm whether it changes bids, targets, networks, keywords, or creative.
3

Enable the type

Marketer opens Let Google change this account on its own? Review the warning, then select Turn on auto-apply only if that policy is intended.
4

Refresh and verify

Select Refresh and confirm the account summary and type reflect Google’s read-back.
Disabling a controllable type applies immediately and does not use the enablement confirmation dialog. Confirm the refreshed state after either direction.

Important coverage boundary

Google can auto-apply recommendation types outside the 15 types exposed here. Therefore:
Nothing auto-applies in this section means none of Marketer’s controllable types are enabled. It is not proof that every possible Google auto-apply behavior is off.
Use Google Ads to review or change recommendation subscriptions outside this list.

Failure and uncertainty states

Do not repeatedly toggle a type while status is uncertain. First establish a fresh provider read.

Review checklist

  • Correct customer ID and account currency
  • Intended recommendation type, not a similarly named type
  • Owner for monitoring Google-applied changes
  • Account bidding and keyword policy
  • Workspace guardrails and approval policy
  • Verification in Google Ads after the change

Next step

Keep all types off until the team has reviewed their effects account by account. If you enable one, document the account, type, approver, verification time, and rollback owner.
