# Notifications and billing

> Route workspace alerts and understand workspace, account-covered, custom, free, and failed-payment billing states.

**Notifications** controls external delivery for the active workspace. **Plans & Billing** shows that workspace's usage and plan context unless an account plan owns its billing.

## Configure notification delivery

Open **Settings** → **Notifications**.

### Slack

The **Slack** section says: workspace alerts post to one channel; approvals DM the person they are for.

* Turn on **Post to Slack**.
* Under **Channel**, pick, search, or create the destination. The bot joins automatically when the connection has the required permissions.
* If Slack is not connected, use **Connect Slack**.
* If channel listing reports a scope problem, reconnect Slack before choosing a new channel.

### Email

**Email alerts** is independent of Slack. When it is on, add at least one **Recipient**. Recipients can be workspace members or external email addresses, within the limit displayed in the product.

The in-app feed always retains the notifications, even when Slack and email are off.

## Choose what leaves the app

Under **What notifies**, set **Notify for**:

| Severity floor            | External delivery                         |
| ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| **Everything** | Information, warning, and critical events |
| **Warnings and critical** | Warning and critical events |
| **Critical only** | Critical events only |

Anything below the floor stays in the app.

Then choose event groups:

| Group              | Events                                   |
| ------------------ | ---------------------------------------- |
| **Performance** | Spend spikes, ROAS drops, anomalies |
| **Account health** | Token expiry, sync failures, disconnects |
| **Approvals** | When the agent needs a decision from you |
| **Agent activity** | Run completions, creative ready |
| **Budget**         | Budget changes and spend-cap warnings    |
| **Billing & team** | Billing issues, member changes |

Select **Save**. If email is enabled with no recipient, or the recipient limit is exceeded, saving remains blocked until the routing is valid.

## Test the routing model

Use this sequence before relying on external alerts:

1. Confirm the active workspace.
2. Confirm Slack's selected channel and the email recipient list.
3. Start with **Warnings and critical**.
4. Enable the groups with a named response owner.
5. Send the available Slack test.
6. Verify the in-app copy remains available.

## Open Plans & Billing

Go to **Settings** → **Plans & Billing**. Viewers do not see this workspace setting.

The page can include:

* **Agent activity** summary;
* current plan and token usage;
* usage categories and **Usage log**;
* **Current plan**;
* **Change plan**;
* **Payment method**;
* **Invoices**; and
* **Danger zone** for workspace deletion.

## Read the plan state

| Display                | Meaning                                      | Available path                                             |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Free plan** | Metered baseline with an active token cycle | Connect eligible accounts or choose a paid plan as offered |
| Catalog plan | Standard workspace subscription | **Change plan or buy credits** when adjustable |
| Custom plan | Off-catalog or managed plan | Contact support when the page says the plan is custom |
| **Complimentary Plan** | Unlimited-token complimentary workspace      | No self-serve plan controls                                |
| **Organization Plan** | The workspace is covered by an account plan | Use **Account → Billing** for account-owned billing |
| **Payment failed** | A self-billing workspace has a failed charge | Select **Fix payment** when offered |

Upgrades apply immediately with proration and refill tokens. The page states that downgrades also apply immediately while current tokens remain through the billing cycle, with no mid-cycle credit. Review the live checkout or portal terms before confirming.

## Manage payment and invoices

For a self-billing workspace:

* **Payment method** shows the card on file and offers **Update card**, or **Add card** if none exists.
* **Invoices** lists recent Stripe charges with status, hosted invoice, and PDF when available.
* **Manage billing in Stripe** handles cancellation, reactivation, payment updates, and invoice access for a billable plan.

If **Payment failed** appears, use **Fix payment** and then return to Marketer to confirm the workspace status recovered.

## Account-covered workspaces

When the page says the workspace is covered by your organization's account plan:

* plan lifecycle belongs to **Account → Billing**;
* workspace payment method and invoice sections are hidden;
* the account plan can fund several workspaces; and
* account cancellation has a multi-workspace effect.

Eligible account Owners and Admins can inspect Account Billing. Only the account Owner sees the account-plan lifecycle and per-workspace activation controls.

If there is no account plan, **Account → Billing** shows **Workspace plans** with **Activate** or **Manage plan** for each workspace; those actions are Owner-only.

## Delete a workspace

The **Danger zone** describes permanent deletion. A workspace with a billable subscription must first be canceled or archived through the billing path shown.

<Warning>
  **Delete workspace** is irreversible. Confirm exports, provider dependencies, ownership, billing, active work, and the exact workspace name before continuing.
</Warning>

## Recovery matrix

| Symptom                                    | Check                                                                      |
| ------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Slack channel cannot load | Slack connection and current permissions |
| Save is disabled with email on | Add at least one recipient and stay within the displayed limit |
| External alert did not arrive | Delivery master switch, severity floor, event group, and channel/recipient |
| **Plans & Billing** is missing | Effective role; Viewers do not see it |
| Payment method and invoices are absent | Workspace may be account-covered |
| **Change plan** is unavailable | Complimentary, account-covered, managed, or custom plan state |
| Payment remains failed after portal action | Return to Marketer and refresh the same billing scope |
| MCP seat cost is unexpected | Review the seat confirmation and account billing owner |

## Next step

Review [Members and roles](/workspace-admin/members-and-roles) so notification ownership, billing authority, and paid MCP-seat decisions belong to the right people.
